Niagara Falls 1969 – Dry.
Niagara falls basically consists of 2 different falls, the american side (american falls – what an inventive name) and the canadian side (horseshoe falls – a bit bigger than american falls). In 1969 engineers completely stopped the flow of the american falls in order to determine the feasibility of enhancing the appearance of the falls as well as preserving them, as erosion is continually wearing them away. I think part of the plan was to set some sort of concrete base below the falls. Sounds fucking crazy. In the end they figured that it would be too expensive. So they turned the water fountain back on. Here’s a flickr set of pictures of American Falls. Dry.
The above picture is what American Falls looks like normally.
